As a Web Developer for Magnets USA®, I don’t “get out much” these days. However, I had the pleasure of attending the Pizza Expo in Las Vegas (March 10th through March 12th). My purpose in going was to get some video footage for our blog and social marketing efforts. I also wanted to learn a little more about our Pizza customers.
My first observation of the Pizza Expo is that it hosts the best smelling Trade Show I’ve ever attended. Pizza, pasta, buffalo wings, bread sticks, sauces, cheeses and spices of all kind are just a few of the products that the show had to offer. My only problem at the show was the urge to snack myself into a weight problem.
I met some great people and I learned a lot about pizza restaurant marketing in a tough economy. I even found a few brave souls willing to get in front of my camera and say a few words. I was encouraged that despite the recession, most owners and operators were in agreement that this is not the time to cut back on marketing. Quite the contrary. Now is the time to advertise your products and market your company more than ever, making sure of course to use methods that give you the most bang for the buck.
Direct mail was on the minds of many. You can’t beat the ability to target repeat customers or specific areas with coupons and special offers. Many people I talked to were using fundraisers with schools and local organizations to get their name out there. This is a great way to attract customers, help your community and shed a very positive light on your company.
I was also encouraged to hear from many operators that magnetic marketing was on their minds. Some talked about their success with magnets, while others talked about plans to introduce this “attractive” idea into their marketing budget. Our Pizza Slice Magnets were probably the most popular products followed closely by our Magnetic Menu Cards and Magnetic Coupon Cards. Both of these magnetic cards make great mailers. Just slap on a first class stamp and let them go.
I made it back from Las Vegas actually a few pounds lighter. I owe that to self control, a lot of walking, and no luck at the tables. Take a look at the highlight video below.
